Recent innovations in data science have the potential to provide lifesaving insights. The potential for progress is greatest in roadway safety. DOT is leveraging in-house datasets and, where possible, private sector datasets to drive evidence-based policy decisions. Analyzing “big data” can help bring transportation safety into the 21st century, adapting to the rapid pace of technological change. Join us for a session to hear about USDOT’s work in this area as well as examples from agencies and industries that are successfully using data to improve safety.
