DOT envisions a world-class infrastructure system that enables fast, safe transport for people as well as freight. Challenges include increasing congestion, the 2012-2016 spike in roadway fatalities, neglect of rural areas, and a permitting process that is fragmented, inefficient, and unpredictable. In order to rebuild and modernize our infrastructure, DOT is focusing on accountability, faster project delivery, smarter funding streams, and better leverage of state, local, and private investments. Officials from USDOT, relevant federal agencies, and other stakeholders will discuss the Department’s plans to improve transportation infrastructure.
