Transportation and Sustainability Committee

The Committee addresses the broad topic of transportation sustainability by connecting and integrating individual sustainability-related issues that are covered by other TRB Committees, such as air-quality, energy, land development, alternative fuels, climate change, resiliency and equity. The Committee considers not only the social, economic and environmental impacts of the transportation system, but also focuses on transportation’s key role in serving a sustainable society in a sustainably developing world.



Agenda:

  • Introductions and agenda overview – 15 min (Tim Sexton, MnDOT)
  • Committee updates; 2020 Conference update, review of events at TRB - 15 min (ADD40 subcommittee chairs/others)
  • TRB realignment; discuss TRB changes, including conversion of sustainability from committee to section and what that mean - 30 min (Bill Anderson, TRB)
  • Electric Vehicles as a climate strategy – 45-60 min
    • The role of EVs in climate action (Ryan Allard, Project Drawdown),
    • The state of EVs in the US and related policy context (Nick Nigro, Atlas Public Policy)
    • California’s approach to clean cars and legal status update (Steve Cliff, CARB)

  • Closing thoughts on ADD40 – 30 min (all)
  • Wrap-ups and thank you – 10 min (Tim Sexton, MnDOT)

The goal is to finish the meeting around 4/4:30 pm to allow people to visit the poster session that ADD40 is sponsoring at the same time.
