Emerging technologies continue to improve mobility and available transportation options through trip planning apps, on-demand booking, and vehicle automation. However, as technologies in transportation improve, the level of accessibility for these options remains a question either in practice or perception of end users. This session will feature presentations from research on the factors from different transportation options considered by older adults and persons with disabilities, and the perceptions of these users groups of transportation mode or technology viability in meeting their accessibility needs. Papers presented will include analyses of user satisfaction, safety messages in automated vehicles, booking ride-hailing services.
