The Six Minute Pitch: A Transportation Startup Challenge is a Young Member Coordinating Council (YMC) special session at the TRB Annual Meeting every year since 2013 during which selected presenters pitch their cutting-edge, research-based concept for a transportation product- or service-based business to a panel of distinguished transportation industry investors and entrepreneurs in just six minutes. The competition has featured 32 competing firms, had 8 honorary ‘winners’, and received coverage from national media including City Lab, Alley Watch, ITE Journal, and TR News. While we are unable to convene the Six Minute Pitch in the virtual format of this year’s Annual Meeting, we’ll be holding a conversation with our judges on how to prepare for the Pitch, their favorite moments over the past years, what they look for in the Pitches, what they see as the pressing issues in transportation research and development that can be addressed by the private sector, and advice for young mobility startups.
