Transportation agencies use a lot of electricity lighting roads and running maintenance shops.  They also own land alongside roads, in interchanges, and at rest areas and maintenance shops that get ample sunshine.  Some states are using public-private partnerships to install solar panels in their right-of-way at no up-front cost, reducing electricity bills while generating clean energy and lowering their carbon footprint.  Hear from representatives of four transportation departments--Maryland, Massachusetts, Georgia, and Texas--about how they are harnessing the power of the sun to deliver cost savings and environmental benefits to their residents and the traveling public.
