New transportation research managers face many challenges, such as being the only person in the agency with such responsibilities. This workshop provides information about the organizations that are sponsoring and conducting research today, the research life cycle, research partnerships, and federal funding of transportation research programs—particularly state planning and research requirements. Participants will gain a foundation of knowledge upon which to base their role as a transportation research manager.
