Public Engagement for Crisis Situations: Weaving Your Network with Existing Tools and Solid Relationships

Sunday, January 07, 2018, 1:30 PM-4:30 PM, Convention Center
Claudia Bilotto, WSP; Rusty Ennemoser, Florida Department of Transportation; Walter Moore, Neel-Schaffer, Inc., presiding
Sponsored by Standing Committee on Public Involvement in Transportation; Standing Committee on Critical Transportation Infrastructure Protection; Standing Committee on Emergency Evacuations; and Standing Committee on Social and Economic Factors of Transportation

This highly interactive workshop focuses on natural and manmade crises that affect the transportation system. How do transportation agencies prepare the public for a potential crisis, engage residents in emergency activities, and reassure travelers about continuity of service during and after a crisis? Speakers will describe their best public engagement practices; then participants will have the opportunity to develop a public engagement plan for two different scenarios.
