Kathy Sifrit, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; Lesley Ross, Pennsylvania State University, presiding
Sponsored by Standing Committee on Safe Mobility of Older Persons

This workshop addresses the effects of drivers’ health and medical conditions on their ability to drive safely. Participants will examine how drivers’ specific medical conditions and the functional limitations that result may contribute to particular crash types; the evidence pertaining to medical conditions and functional limitations differs. Attendees also will discuss which conditions have sufficient evidence to warrant evaluation, countermeasures that may reduce risk, and areas requiring further research.
